Our school’s interdisciplinary research areas help to investigate hurricane formation, structure, development, track, and forecasting complimenting a special interest on socio-economic impacts and policy.
The Rosenstiel School is ideally situated for the study of hurricanes through its location on Virginia Key in Miami. The hurricane research groups at the Rosenstiel School benefit from close collaborations with other schools on the University's main campus, as well as with neighboring facilities including Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS), Hurricane Research Division (HRD), and the National Hurricane Center (NHC). We also work with researchers from Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS), Naval Research Lab - Monterey (NRL-MRY), Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA), and Naval Postgraduate School (NPS).
